For those of you who have purchased a diesel generator set, it is crucial to have a complete set of operating steps. Next, I will provide a detailed introduction to the pre start preparation, start-up operation, shutdown, and parallel operation of the generator set.

Before starting the unit, you should carefully read the random technical documents and make all necessary preparations.

（1） Preparation before starting the diesel generator set

After the installation of the diesel generator set, we will conduct a comprehensive inspection according to the product’s technical requirements.Confirm that all equipment is installed correctly, the wiring is correct, the operating parts are flexible, the moving parts are not stuck, and the components are complete and reliable before preparing for operation.

2. Check again that all connecting fasteners are securely installed and that the operating parts of the diesel generator set are flexible.The cable wiring should not be loose, and the distance between the positive and negative poles of the battery connection wire should be greater than 150mm to prevent sparks from collision.

When you first put the diesel generator set into operation, you should measure the cold insulation resistance of each electrical circuit to ground and between circuits.It can be measured with a 500V megohmmeter, and the measurement result should not be less than 2M Ω.

4. For diesel generator sets that are connected to the grid or parallel operation, you should conduct a phase sequence test before operation to ensure that the phase sequence of this unit is the same as that of other units or the power grid.

5. You need to position all electrical switches and adjustment knobs inside the diesel generator set in the corresponding shutdown position.

6. Set the control screen battery and electronic governor power switch to the “on” position, press the alarm button to check whether the alarm indicator lights and sound are normal. If the indicator lights do not flash or there is no sound, they should be checked, eliminated or replaced.After checking the diesel generator set, press the mute and alarm release buttons to restore all alarm signals.

7. It is best for you to check the preparation work of lubrication, cooling, air supply, start-up, operation and other systems in the user and maintenance manual before starting the diesel generator set.The generator and control panel should also be prepared according to the instructions before starting up.

（2） Formal start-up operation of diesel generator set

You can perform the startup operation at the machine or on the control screen.

Attention: During the operation, pay attention to observing whether the oil, water, gas, etc. of the unit are normal.

If you manually start the diesel generator set

First, close the pre oil supply switch and start the electric pre oil pump (or turn on the manual oil pump).After the main oil passage pressure reaches 100kPa, press the start button. Once the diesel generator set starts, immediately release the start button and disconnect the start switch.The starting time of the diesel generator set is 5 seconds each time. If it fails to start three times in a row, the cause should be checked and the fault should be eliminated before starting again.

After the engine is running, you can press the “page turning” button to check the changes in various technical parameters during engine operation through the LCD screen.After successful start-up, the engine should be idling and warmed up. Acceleration and loading can only be carried out when the oil and water temperatures reach 40 ℃ or above.

If you want the generator set to start automatically

For emergency automated diesel generator sets, the generator set should always be in a quasi start state (regular automatic pre lubrication, maintaining oil and water temperature). After receiving a start command from the automatic control system (loss of mains power, insufficient overall power, etc.), the unit will automatically start and automatically close with load after reaching the rated state.

（3） Shutdown operation of diesel generator set

You can operate both shutdown and startup from the machine or control screen.The engine shutdown operation is usually carried out after the main switch has been opened.The basic process is the same whether operating on the machine, in the monitoring room, or automatically.

The normal shutdown of a diesel generator set should gradually remove the load and open the main switch, then set the speed selection switch to the “idle” position, and the natural gas engine speed should reach 700r/min.After cooling the unit according to the requirements of the natural gas engine maintenance manual, turn the “stop” knob to the stop position to stop the engine from working.

After the diesel generator set is shut down, you should place all electrical switches in the shutdown position and return all adjustment knobs to their corresponding shutdown positions for the next start.

2、 Parallel operation of diesel generator sets

（1） Preparation before parallel operation of diesel generator sets and conditions for parallel operation

Before parallel operation, you need to perform a phase sequence check, and only after confirming that there are no errors can you start the machine.

（2） Operation of parallel operation of diesel generator sets

1. Manual parallel and uncoupling of diesel generator sets

When connecting in parallel, first set the control screen synchronization detection switch to the “on” position, adjust the voltage setting potentiometer and speed adjustment knob to make the voltage frequency of the unit to be connected the same as the voltage frequency of the grid (or another unit), observe the synchronization meter, and when its pointer rotates counterclockwise slowly and reaches the middle position, it can be closed;Adjust the speed control knob and voltage setting potentiometer to operate the unit under load at a certain power.Quickly set the synchronous detection switch to the “OFF” position.

When disconnecting, adjust the power factor to 1, adjust the speed knob, gradually unload the load to around 50kW, and press the main switch disconnect button.

2. Automatic parallel and split operation of diesel generator sets

For emergency automation units, the automatic quasi synchronous parallel device will automatically synchronize and close with load after the unit reaches its rated state.The power of the unit can be automatically adjusted according to changes in load during operation, achieving automatic load distribution.

After receiving the disconnection instruction, the crew will automatically unload the load and automatically disconnect the main switch at the set disconnection power.

3、 Adjustment of the crew

The mutual installation position between the engine and the generator has strict precision requirements and is adjusted and positioned at the factory.During transportation and handling, or after a period of operation of the unit, the accuracy of their mutual positions may change, so inspection and adjustment are necessary.

When using column pin rubber elastic connectors and high elasticity couplings, use dial gauge 1 contact to make contact with the outer circle of the driven mechanical coupling disk, and dial gauge 2 contact to make contact with the end face of the coupling disk.Rotate the crankshaft to drive the driven machinery to rotate once.Measure the corresponding position indication values for directions A, B, C, and D. The large reading difference measured by dial gauge 1 is the radial circular runout error of the outer circle of the driven mechanical coupling plate to the centerline of the engine crankshaft. The large reading difference measured by dial gauge 2 is the parallelism error between the end faces of the coupling plate.The parallelism error between the end faces of the two connecting disks can also be measured using a thickness gauge.
